The Foldaway Elliptical Strider is a like a cross between an elliptical cross trainer and a walker. It has dual action stride arms with padded handles and a console but the action of the pedals is not as elliptical as a more classic elliptical cross trainer like the famous (and more expensive) Proform 800. The great thing about this machine though is it folds away.
This model has been re-released ad now comes with a heart rate monitor.

Overall
Most often cheaper alternatives to ellipticals are either steppers or air-walkers. Although this machine calls itself an elliptical strider, it is really just an air-walker.
But don't buy it expecting an elliptical trainer type workout b/c you won't get it. This mostly trains your butt and hip flexors without much effort, serious trainers may find it too easy.
The price and foldaway features are the best things about this machine.
